What are the best Command and Conquer games? For a franchise as good as Command and Conquer which was first released in 1995, getting the very best may be a little tricky because of how good the entire series is. From 1995 until 2012, the game has maintained a center stage with many gamers.

1. Command and Conquer: Red Alert

This game was released in 1996 as the second game in the title

Set during the second world war period of 1946 and 1954, the Command and Conquer Games story is centered around Albert Einstein who is on a mission to kill Adolf Hitler using a time machine. The event changes the course of history as the USSR became a powerful ruling force.

You can play the game either as part of the Allied or decide to join the Soviet forces, each with its own unique weapons. There are other intentions such as Tesla coils and chromospheres.

2. Command and Conquer: Generals

It was released in 2003 as the  seventh installment in the franchise

This Command and Conquer Games drops you into a war where you must choose one of the three different factions- the USA, China, or the Global Liberation Army (GLA). Each has its own strength and advantages. There was a little change in the game as it introduces a new economy system, no FMV scenes, and a shiny new 3D engine. It is seen as one of the best game in the franchise because of the risks it took.

Something interesting that was introduced in this installment is the Generals Challenge that has nine generals from which you can choose from, three from the different factions.

3. Command and Conquer: Zero Hour

This game was released in 2003

This is one of the interesting Command and Conquer Games and it features three new campaigns made up of five missions each. It also introduces a live-action video to aid in moving the narrative. As an expansion of the Command and Conquer: Generals, it also has the extra mode of  “Generals’ Challenge” which allows you to play one of the nine main generals, battling each other in a one-on-one battle.

4. Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun

This game was released in 1999 as the fourth major game of the franchise

It centers on events that took place 30 years after the first game’s events. It is a story of the war between the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of Nod. It features two campaigns, new units, and buildings- plus new technology. It also allows you to choose other paths in the campaign mode- which means you can play other options missions.

5. Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars

This game is a sequel to the Tiberian sun and released in 2007

Regarded as one of the exciting Command and Conquer Games, this one comes following the war between the GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod. It was set when Nod’s growing influence was becoming global. You are to play as SCRIN- an alien faction. It feels good to play as you will be in the mix alongside a bunch of aliens. It also features live-action scenes.

6. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2

Initial release date: 2000

This game was 1972 after the death of Stalin which sees the USSR invading the USA, triggering a third world war. You can either choose to play as the Allies or the Soviets. It introduces different units and vocal interaction between your troops which all come together to make the battle atmosphere amazing. It features Tesla troopers, prism tanks, terror drones, and mirage tanks.

7. Command and Conquer

This is the first game in the series, released in 1995

Based on an alternative time in history, this Command and Conquer Games center around the war between the GDI and the Brotherhood of Nod with Kane in-charge. Being the first command and conquer game, it introduced cut-scenes, dialogue, and core gameplay.

8. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3

It was released in October 2008 

This game’s storytelling idea is top-notch as it centers on how the Soviets will go back in time to kill Einstein before he helps the Allies to win the war. It features three factions- Allies, Soviets and the Empire of the Rising Sun. It included other additions such as co-op campaign system which allows you to play as a single player with a friend, naval warfare and the empire of the rising sun which is a brilliant creation.

9. Command and Conquer: Yuri’s Revenge

The game was released in 2001

It is an expansion of Red Alert 2. It features a popular actor Udor Kier as Yuri who heads the soviet’s psychic corps- planning to take over the world through mind control, but the Allies think differently. Two new Campaigns have been added.

10. Command and Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath

It was on March 24, 2008, that the game was released

It is an expansion pack. It centers on Kane’s hunger for power in the mid-21st century. It features Global Conquest- where you are in charge of your own forces. This game was set between when Tiberian Sun ended and when Tiberium Wars began.

11. Command and Conquer Red Alert: The Aftermath

This game was released in 1997 as the second of the two expansion packs of Red Alert. The game introduced new units in both single and multi-player modes. It included new missions, additional soundtracks, and improved gameplay.

12. Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight

This game was released in 2010

It centers on the world being threatened by the growth and effect of Tiberium. You can choose to play as either GDI or the Brotherhood of Nod. It features a campaign mode- which allows you to progress.

13. Command and Conquer: Renegade

This game was released in 2002

It is the only game in the series that introduced the first-person view. It centers around the last days of the Tiberium war where three GDI researchers were adopted by the Brotherhood of Nod. The gameplay is amazing as you can either play as a first-person or third-person shooter. It introduces the in-game EVA (Electronic Video Assistance) which updates mission objectives.

14. Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun: Firestorm

Initial release date: 7 March 2000

This is one of the amazing games of the franchise. A lot of issues concerning “balancing” in the game were fixed, making it more creative and interesting to play.

15. Command and Conquer Red Alert 3: Uprising

Initial release date: 28 October 2008

This game is a better-improved version of Red Alert 3. More new units were introduced that included Giga fortress, harbinger gunship, and the grinder and reaper. The game is pretty much awesome and decent.
