Renowned celebrity chef, author, and travel documentarian, Anthony Bourdain had a daughter named Ariane Bourdain whom he shared with his second wife, Ottavia Busia. This daughter, both parents chose to shield her from the limelight for the better part of her 17 years on earth.
Even after years of the celebrity chef’s demise by suicide, Ariane is still being protected by all who are around her. However, she would end up enjoying the perks of being a celebrity child as Anthony left to her most of his earthly wealth and named her mother the custodian of his estate.

1. She is His Only Child
Before Ariane Bourdain was born, her parents met through mutual friends and enjoyed a brief but intense romance that produced her. She was born on April 9, 2007, and shortly after, her parents got married on April 20 of the same year.
The marriage between the celebrity chef and his second wife, Ottavia Busia, Ariane’s mother, lasted only 9 years. Shortly before celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary together, Anthony revealed that he and his wife were separated but would always remain family and close, perhaps courtesy of their daughter.
Bourdain was previously married to a woman known as Nancy Putkoski in 1985. The marriage lasted for about 20 years before they got divorced in 2005.
2 years after his first divorce, Anthony got married to the Mixed Martial Artist, Ottavia, who bore him his only child.
Ariane’s parents got separated in 2016 but never got legally divorced. Tony however moved on and started dating another woman, Italian actress Asia Argento.
2. Anthony Bourdain and Ariane Bourdain Shared a Great Bond
Anthony Bourdain and his only child shared so many fond times together. The duo shared many years on trips to NYC haunt, Papaya King, and other fond places in their neighborhood.
They also played ‘TV dad’ with Anthony cooking just like the fathers they watched on TV.
One of Ariane’s fond times was when she would watch Ratatouille with her dad while they attempted to recreate the dishes themselves.
There are many other memories she and her mother have shared about their times together including times Anthony would carry his daughter on his lap and neck and carry out fun activities to the utmost pleasure of Ariane.
Anthony also utterly enjoyed being a father, a feat he achieved at the age of 50 but doesn’t regret one bit. According to him, he became a father when he was ready. If it had happened sooner, he may not have been the best version of himself.
3. Her Reaction to Her Father’s Death in 2018
Anthony Bourdain committed suicide in June 2018 and after investigations, it was revealed that he took his life hours after exchanging messages with his then-girlfriend, Argento.
According to the published conversation, Bourdain complained about Asia being careless with his heart. He further asked what he could do to which the Italian actress responded by saying he should ‘stop busting her balls’. The end of that conversation was a simple ‘OK’ from Anthony who hung himself with a bathrobe belt in his French hotel room later.
2 days after the demise of the celebrity author, Ariane was at a concert with her band at DROM NYC. She sang in a manner described by her mother as ‘brave and strong.’ Ariane wore a pair of black studded boots her father bought her.
Her mother captured the moment and posted it on social media. She wrote a lovely caption resembling a tribute to her late husband. In the end, she hoped Bourdain was having a good trip wherever he was.
Certainly, Ariane mourned the passing of her father but what stood out most for Ottavia and close family and friends was how she handled it, strongly.
4. Ariane Bourdain was Left With Her Father’s Wealth
Following Anthony Michael Bourdain’s death on June 8, 2018, aged 61, he left the bulk of his wealth to his only heir.
In his will, he named Ariane Busia Bourdain as the heir to the bulk of his estate. His assets comprised $425,000 in savings and cash, $35,000 in brokerage accounts, $250,000 in personal property, and $500,000 in royalties and residuals.
Although many people believed his net worth was as high as $16 million, Anthony debunked that before his death. He revealed that his wealth was exaggerated by almost 10 times.
In addition to these, he left at the mercy of his ex-wife, the remnant of his properties.
5. She Remains Out of the Spotlight
Since her birth to date, 17-year-old Ariane Busia Bourdain has been carefully left out of the spotlight. It had always been her parent’s desire that she remain away from the spotlight. Every other thing that has included the young celebrity child only featured images and footage of her when she was much younger.
Even when shooting the parts of her father’s docuseries, Roadrunners, the director was careful enough not to go against Ottavia and Anthony’s wishes.
He included as many pictures of younger Ariane and left out the teen girl’s images. However, for the ending part of the film, director, Morgan Neville, revealed that Ottavia was kind enough to send him the clip of her and her daughter with Tony, holding hands and walking away from the camera.
Aside from this, she wasn’t featured in any prominent scene in the movie which tried to detail a lot about her father’s life.

In a nutshell, we don’t know much about what Ariane is all about these days. We do know that she was interested in Martial Arts growing up and her father hoped she would grow to be very good at the art.
Upon Anthony’s death, we realized that she is a singer and even performs with a band. Also, she gets to control what’s left of her father’s wealth upon his passing.
She does share a good bond with her mother who has raised and tended to her all her life.
Despite being shielded from the spotlight for so long, she may not continue to be hidden.
