Born March 24, 1949, Alice was raised in Mamaroneck, New York by her parents, Ira and Margaret Mendell. She graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor’s degree before she later on to receive her master’s degree in education from the University of Miami.
Ken Starr and his wife met while they were both attending a summer Spanish class at Harvard University. At that time, she was a jew but she converted to Christianity after she got involved with Ken. They got married on August 23, 1970, and were together for over five decades before Ken died on September 13, 2022, after reportedly spending 17 weeks in the surgical intensive care unit due to complications from surgery.
Ken Starr’s wife worked for a real estate company, West Group for more than 16 years and was also the director of consumer affairs for a national home builder company, NVR.

1. Randall P. Starr
Alice Mendell and her husband had their first son Randy seven years after they married. Randy Starr was born in 1977 and has come to work alongside his parents in community service.
As a teenager, Alice’s son spent most of his time volunteering to revitalize the historic Virginia Park. He has also worked as the chief development officer for TopGolf USA. He is currently married to Melina and they share not less than two children.
2. Carolyn S. Doolittle
Stanford graduate, Carolyn Doolittle was born to the couple in 1980. She is a former second-grade teacher who has helped several youths to learn how to read.
She is married to Cameron Doolittle, the financial consultant for churches and financial director for Jill’s House. Together they are raising their four kids in Falls Church, Virginia.
