He has taken charge of a niche that is clearly defined by his very unique voice and propensity to create pop-like ballads that are not just entertaining but are equally uplifting.

Alex Ubago was Born in Spain
Alejandro Martinez de Ubago Rodriguez was born on the 29th of January, 1981 in Vitoria, Pais Vasco, Spain. The Spanish pop singer is the only child of his parents. However, he did not feel the absence of siblings because he always had family and friends around him including cousins, uncles, and aunties.
Details of his early childhood still remain largely unknown and this has added to the musician’s shroud of mystery. However, it is known that when he was four the family had to move from the city where he was born to San Sebastian. Their relocation was predicated on their search for greener pastures.
He Started Writing Music when he was 15
As a child, Alex spent a lot of time by himself and this was a great opportunity for him to hone his talents. He set off by writing and making music and by the time he was 15 he had written his first song. He once spoke about this song and he said did not give it too much thought when he realized that he could actually write this song. This was only the beginning of the things he was going to achieve, his success with being able to write one song at fifteen encouraged him to write some more songs.
Fast forward to seven years after when he was 22. In that year, he released his debut album, Que Pides Tu? to average success. He was able to sell almost one million units of the record in Spain then went on to become a 2X platinum artist in Mexico.
Before the release of his debut album, Ubajo had been working on a number of demos, particularly with his cousin, David. David was a musician who owned his own home studio and this made it very easy for him to create songs and slowly hone his skill as a musician.
The goal for the songs he was making with David was to give them to his girlfriend as a birthday gift but they instead got into the hands of Inigo Argomainz, who is a manager. He in turn sent the song to other people in the music industry. After a series of events, Ubago was advised to record more songs which he did and made a pitch to the artistic director of DRO, Alfonso Perez. By the end of 2000, Ubago had signed a contract and was well on his way to becoming a professional musician.
More Mainstream Success
Alex Ubago’s debut album was a hit outside of his country, outside Latin America, South America and was appreciated by American audiences as well. His second album 21 Meses, 1 Semana y 2 Dias was released two years after in 2003. With this album, he had much higher success, peaked at number one on the Spanish music charts and led to his first major award nomination as he was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2003.
He lost the award to David Bisbal but this was proof that he was doing something right. By the next year, Alex Ubago had released a new album, Fantasia o Realidad. The success he enjoyed with his previous albums was replicated with this one. Number one on the charts, 3 times Platinum in Spain and in Mexico it was Platinum and Gold. Just like the first time he was nominated for another Latin grammy, this time it was the award for the Best Male Pop Vocal Album award.
Following this, he has released 5 more bodies of work and has maintained a successful streak.
The Details of his Net Worth are a Mystery
For someone who is one of the mainstream stars in Latin America, Alex Ubago leads a very private and quiet life. He does not put on ostentatious displays of wealth as you would expect from a pop star. As a result of this, it is hard to say how much he is worth exactly, as these figures have never been disclosed by him.
He is Married With Two Kids
Just like a lot of his private life has been kept away from the public, so are details on his wife not well known. It is not clear when they met or how long they dated, but on the 10th of September, 2011 he got married to Maria Alcorta Garrido.
Their union was officiated at the city council of San Sebastian. By July of the following year, on the 7th of that month, his first child, Pablo Martínez de Ubago Alcorta was born. The Basque singer-songwriter’s second child is Manuela although her actual date of birth has not been revealed.
