Jason Aalon Butler was first known when he was the lead singer of the post-hardcore band called Letlive. He is currently part of the rap hardcore band called Fever 333 and also the hardcore punk band known as Pressure Cracks.
Butler is not just a singer but also a political activist, he was more political when he was with his former band, Letlive. The singer was born and raised in Inglewood, California. His father, Aalon Butler was the lead singer of the soul group, “Aalon”. Growing up with a black Milwaukee father and a white Glaswegian mother made things quite difficult for him. Fitting in with a lot of the white children in his grade school was hard for him because they sometimes ask him rhetorical questions like why his mother was white and his father black. He grew up in Inglewood, Los Angeles’ county with a majority of black and Latino.

His uncle introduced him to music
Music has always been part of butler’s life, his uncle from Scotland introduced him to rock music. His uncle bought him the albums; ‘Sixteen Stone’ by Bush and ‘Ok Computer’ by Radiohead. It is for that reason that his favorite band is still Bush. His other early inspirations are James Brown and Michael Jackson.

In September 2014, during a private ceremony in Hawaii, Butler married Virginia Claire Wigmore better known as Gin Wigmore a singer and songwriter from New Zealand. The couple announced they were expecting their first child in June 2017 and their first son, Pascal Nashoba Butler was born on September 7, 2017. The couple had their second son, Izaiah River Butler on March 20, 2020.

Butler came together with Keeyan Majdi, Alex Haythorn, Christian Johannsen, and Ben Sharp to form Letlive in 2002. The band was based out of Los Angeles and it has released four full-length records while they were signed to Epitaph Records. Most of the songs were based on butler’s personal life experiences. The band announced on April 28, 2017, through social media that they were breaking up.
