1. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
This tops our lists of the best action comedy movies. The film was released in 2014 and directed by Matthew Vaughn. The movie is based on the comic book “the secret service” written by Dave Gibbon and Mark Millar, it tells the story of Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (Taron Egerton) and how the secret service organization trained and recruited him to work as spy and bring down a terrorist Richmond Valentine (Samuel L Jackson).
2. Spy (2015)
Released in 2015 and directed by Paul Feig, this is also one of the best action comedy movies out there. This comedy spiced action film tells the story of a secret agent Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) who initially was a CIA desk operative. Her new mission is to trace a stolen nuclear device. The movie features Jason Statham, Rose Bryne, Miranda Hart, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney, Peter Serafinowicz, Morena Baccarin, and Jude Law.
3. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
This action comedy film was teased in 2015 and directed by Guy Ritchie. The movie is an adaptation of the 1964 MGM TV series of the same title. It follows the story of CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill) and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) whose main mission is to prevent a terrorist organization from destroying the already soured relations between the US and the Soviet Union.
4. Hot Pursuit (2015)
Directed by Anne Fletcher and released in 2015, this is also one of the best action comedy movies you can find. The American comedy spiced action film follows the story of a policewoman Cooper (Reese Witherspoon) whose new mission is to escort Daniella Riva (Sofia Vergara) to Dallas safely to enable her to testify against a vicious drug lord. Unfortunately, Daniella’s husband was killed in the process- so Cooper and Daniella must work together as a team to survive the ride against all odds.
5. Kick-Ass (2000)
This movie was released in 2010 and directed by Matthew Vaughn. The story is based on Mark Miller and John Romita Jr’s book of the same title. It features Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski whose love for comics turned him into a superhero- although, without any real special powers, he designed a superhero suit and named himself as “kick ass”. He teams up with Big Daddy and Hit Girl vigilante to fight crime in the city.
6. We’re Millers (2013)
It is a 2013 movie directed by Rawson M Thurber. It features Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter, Nick Offerman, Kathryn Halm, Molly Quin and Ed Helms. It is a story of a small-time pot dealer who persuades his neighbors to act as his fake family, so as to enable him to smuggle drugs into the country from Mexico.
7. 21 Jump Street (2012)
This movie was released in 2012 and was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The story is adapted from Stephen J. Cannell and Patrick Herburg’s 1987-1991 TV series of the same title. It is the story of two police officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenkins (Channing Tatum) who had to forfeit school in order to carry out an undercover assignment to put a stop to the new hard drug peddled in the high school.
8. This Means War (2012)
This movie was released in 2012 and directed by McG. It features Chris Pine as FDR Foster, Tom Hardy as Tuck Hanse and Reese Witherspoon as Laurent Scott. And the story is about these two well trained and top CIA agent Foster and Tuck whose friendship was put to test as they both fall in love with the same girl- Laurent.
9. Here Comes the Boom (2012)
This movie was released in 2012 and directed by Frank Coraci. The plot follows Scott Voss (Kevin James) a former college wrestler who now works as a biology teacher in a high school. When things got out of hand during the school’s music program, he swings back to action bringing his wrestling skills to bare and even earning some money from the program.
10. You Don’t Mess with the Zohan (2008)
This comedy spiced action film was released in 2008 and directed by Dennis Dugan and is considered by many to be one of the best action comedy movies out there. The plot follows Zohan Dvir (Adam Sandler) and Israeli army counter-terrorist commando who despite his strengths and wits fakes his own death to enable him to go to New York City and pursue his childhood dream of becoming a hairstylist.
11. Vampire Academy (2014)
This movie was released in 2014 as Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters and directed by Mark Waters. It was adapted from Rochelle Mead’s 2017 best selling novel of the same title. It follows the story of two teenage vampire girls Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutc) and Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry) and their exploits in St Vladamir’s Academy for Vampires. Rose will do anything to protect her friend Lissa from harm.
This is not the best film by any measure, but if you are looking for good action comedy movies, you may decide to try it.
12. 2 Guns (2013)
This American comedy spiced action film was directed by Baltasar Kormakur and released in 2013. It is based on the 2007 comic book of Steven Grant and Mateus Santolouco. It follows the activities of Bobby Trench (Denzel Washington) a DEA agent and Marcus Stigman (Mark Wahlberg) a US Navy Intelligence Officer who both works as under-cover in a drug syndicate without each other’s knowledge of being undercover agents. When their mission failed, they were dismissed by their superior. Now, they fight to stay alive or end up in jail.

13. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (2010)
This film which is widely considered to be one of the best action comedy movies by many action movie fans was released in 2010 and directed by Jon Turteltaub. It features Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Melina, Teresa Palmer, and Monica Bellucci. It is the story of Dave Stutler and Balthazar Blake- the wizard and how he trains Dave to protect the world from another enemy.
14. Wild Wild West (1999)
This is also one of the best action comedy movies out there. This comedy-packed action film was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and adapted from a screenplay by S. S Wilson, Brent Maddock, Jeffrey Price, and Peter Seaman. The movie features two US secret service agents James West (Will Smith) and Artemus Gordon (Kevin Klein) who must put aside their trivial issues and prevent the assassination of the US President.
15. The Brothers Grimm (2005)
The Brothers Grim is a 2005 movie that features two dysfunctional schemers Wilhelm (Matt Damon) and Jacob (Heath Ledger) who travel to different towns organizing shows that persuade the town’s people they are expelling demons.
