1. Max Von Sydow

Max was born on the 10th of April, 1929 in Lund, Sweden. And also a French citizen. His role in “Pelle the Conqueror” got him an Oscar nomination. Max is popularly known for his role as father Merrin in “The Exorcist.” He is adjudged as the only actor that ever played Jesus and Satan roles; playing Satan in Stephen King’s adaptation of “Needful things” and Jesus in “The Greatest Story Ever Told.”

2. Bruce Campbell

Born as Bruce Lorne Campbell on June 22nd, 1958 in Royal Oak, Michigan, US. He is one of the greatest horror actors, famous for his role in Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead franchise. Besides acting, he is also an author. Regarded as the scream king, he has taken many horror roles including as Joe Fasulo in The Woods, John Loftmore in Waxwork II: Lost in Time, and Elvis Presley in Bubba Ho-Tep.

3. Robert Englund

Robert was born in Glendale, California, US on 6th June 1947. He is a singer and a director as well. He is famous for playing the role of Freddy Kruger- the serial killer in the Nightmare on Elim Street Film franchise. He got a Fantafestival Award for his role in the 1995 “The Mangler.” Robert is just a classic horror actor.

4. Sir Christopher Lee

Christopher Lee is an English actor, singer and author, born in Belgravia, London, England on May 27th, 1922. By his death in 2015, he had already featured in about 266 films since he began acting in 1948, and a large chunk of those movies are stark and terrifying horror. He is famous for his role as Count Dracula in a series of Hammer Horror movies.

With different portrayals of Dracula including Bela Lugosi in Dracula (1931), Christopher Lee’s portrayal in Horror Of Dracula (1958) is one of the 100 best horror movie characters by Empire.

5. Bela Lugosi

Lugosi was born on the 20th day of October 1882 in Lugos, Hungary. He became famous for his portrayal of Count Dracula in the 1938 movie. He was really iconic when it comes to horror acting. He featured in many horror films like White Zombie, The Raven, Son Franklin, The Black Cat, and Black Friday. 

6. Boris Karloff

Born William Henry Pratt on the 23rd day of November 1967 in Midhurst, Sussex, England, and later stage-named Boris Karloff. He is famous for his role in James Whale’s Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein. He has featured in other horror movies like the mummy and has worked alongside the legendary Bela Lugosi in The Black Cat, The Raven, Black Friday and The Body Snatchers among others.

7. Lon Chaney Jr

Lon Chaney is just a stage-name, Creighton Tull Chaney is the real name, born in Oklahoma City on 10 February 1906. He is famous for playing Larry Talbot in the 1954 movie “The Wolfman”. He also featured in the Ghost of Franklin in 1942 and The Mummy, plus many others.

He was born Vincent Leonard Price Jr. on the 27th of May, 1911 in St. Louis, Missouri, US. However, he is famous for wow acting skills and performances in horror films and plus his excellent voice.  Something great with him is that apart from horrors is that he is also great with comedy.

The actor who was born in New York City on August 7th, 1942 is famous for his role as John Kramer in all the 8 Jigsaw movie series. However, he got his first major role in the 1988 Mississippi Burning and has featured in many other TV films and TV shows in the 90s.

Born on the 24th of May, 1960 in Indianapolis, Indiana, US- Jones is one of the most popular horror actors. He featured in a whole lot of horror movies that will be heavy for one to start listing. But for the records, his well-known horror movie roles are in Hellboy, Pan’s Laybrinth, and The Shape of Water. Besides acting, he is a contortionist and a mime. In fact, you can call him “the character actor.”

11. Tony Todd

12. Kane Hodder
