Saif Ali Khan, the famous Indian Bollywood star, has suffered a devastating injury after a burglary attack in his home.
According to his public relations team, the celebrated Indian actor had to undergo surgery on Thursday after he was repeatedly stabbed in an apparent burglary at his home in Mumbai.
Saif Ali Khan, who is now 54 years old, is one of the highly successful movie stars from India. He has starred in over 70 movies and television series since his illustrious career kick-started. The Bollywood veteran is also married to another top Bollywood star, Kareena Kapoor.
Talking about the sad incident, Saif Ali Khan’s team explained that “there was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence.” The team also urged the “fans to be patient”.
Saif Ali Khan’s wife, Kareena Kapoor also spoke to the media. She told local media that “Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in hospital”.
She added: “The rest of the family is doing fine.”
The incident has left many of the popular actor’s fans shaken as they struggle to come to terms with the development. The burglary incident has become one of the most talked-about topics on social media around India and elsewhere where the actor is beloved.
For the record, Saif Ali Khan happens to be the son of Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, a former Indian cricket captain, and Sharmila Tagore, a Bollywood actress, who is often regarded among the greatest actresses in the history of Indian cinema.
Saif Ali Khan has several hit movies in his portfolio. Among his acting credits include the 2001 hit Dil Chahta Hai, and the popular Netflix crime series Sacred Games.
Speaking to The Hindustan Times newspaper, Niraj Uttamani, a top official at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, revealed that the actor had six injuries, including two that are deeper.
The Press Trust of India news agency broadcast images of police carrying out forensic examinations of Khan’s residence in Mumbai.
