Stand-up comedian and actor, Richard Lewis died of a heart attack on Tuesday 28 February 2024 at his home in Los Angeles. This came after he announced in April 2023 that he had Parkinson’s disease. He was 76.
The Curb Your Enthusiasm actor was married to Joyce Lapinsky until his death. The pair never had children.
Lewis was known for his role in the late 80s sitcom Anything But Love. Born in Brooklyn and raised in New Jersey, the actor performed stand-up comedy for about 50 years until he retired at Chicago’s Zanies.

On Tuesday 28 February 2024, the acerbic comedian and character actor died after suffering a heart attack. According to the report given by his publicist, Jeff Abraham, Richard Lewis passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles in the night.
Before his death, the actor had previously revealed in April 2023 that he had been living with Parkinson’s disease. He also explained that he had multiple surgeries He also added that he was retiring from stand-up comedy and was focusing on writing and acting.

Following his death, his friends and Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Cheryl Hines and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator, Larry David have paid homage to the deceased actor.
Richard Lewis would be remembered for sharing his battles with anxiety and depression. He also revealed in several interviews that he suffered from an eating disorder. In addition to that, he opened up about his recovery from alcohol and drug abuse.
In his memoir The Other Great Depression, the actor reflected on his struggles with addiction.
Richard Lewis was Married to Joyce Lapinsky
In 1998, Lewis and Joyce Lapinsky met at a Ringo Starr album release party while she was working in music publishing. They got engaged in 2004 and married in 2005.
Although they were married for nearly two decades, Lewis and Lapinsky did not welcome any children together. Many who know them noted how much the pair loved each other.

According to Lewis, his friendship with Larry David has extended beyond the screen. The two have been friends since their 20s. The actor often referred to Larry as the best friend anyone could ever get.
The friends were born three days apart in the same hospital.
