A Brief Biography of Caroline Smedvig
James Taylor’s wife who is also known as Kim Taylor was born Caroline Elisabeth Hessberg on May 31, 1957, and she’s 67 years old at the moment. While not so much has been established about her childhood, we learned that she was raised by her parents Albert Hessberg II and Elisabeth Fitzsimons Goold, and grew up in Albany, New York alongside two brothers Albert and Philip.
Her father, Albert Hessberg II was an Attorney at the Hiscock & Barclay law firm in Albany. He served as a senior partner for a few years before becoming the president of the Albany County Bar Association. Unfortunately, he died in January 1995 at the age of 78 after battling cancer.
Caroline completed her high school education in 1972 as she was enrolled at Albany’s Academy for Girls. She furthered at the Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and graduated in 1975. The exact course she studied in school has not been disclosed but it is reported in some quarters that she may have studied journalism as she later pursued a career in that field.

Even though Caroline is mostly in the spotlight as the wife of James Taylor, the mother of two holds her end in the music industry as one of her husband’s backup vocalists. Caroline Smedvig and James Taylor Got Married in 2001
As you would easily find, Caroline Smedvig and James Taylor have been married for over two decades. The pair first met in 1993 at a concert conducted by John Williams and soon began a friendship. As hinted above, at the time of their meeting, Caroline was working with the Boston Symphony Orchestra while Taylor was one of the performing artists of the day.
Their friendship would later blossom into a relationship two years later following Taylor’s divorce from his second wife Kathryn Walker. He had been first married to Carly Simon who is also the mother of his two children Ben and Sally.
Six years later, precisely on February 8, 2001, Caroline and Taylor exchanged vows in a small ceremony held at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Boston. The ceremony was witnessed by about 50 guests which were mostly close friends and family members.
Since then, the couple has lived in harmony and maintained an enviable lovelife. The pair revealed that despite being victims of broken love ties, the maturity and support they have shown towards each other has kept them through these years. Taylor further advised men to get married when they are older as they dont make good partners until about 35 years old.
She became a Mother of Twin Boys Vai Surrogacy
Caroline and her husband Taylor are proud parents of twin sons Rufus and Henry. They were born via surrogacy in April 2002 and they are 24 years old right now. From our findings, the surrogate mother of the boys is a close friend of Taylor. She went into in vitro fertilization in 2002. However, her identity has remained undisclosed.
As reported, Caroline opted for surrogacy following her age at the time she got married to the musician. She was 47 years old at the time while her husband was 53 years old.
Like James Taylor, the boys also share the same passion for music and have long joined the industry. As of this writing, the twin do not have any song to their name but sing alongside their father as backups during his performances.
