Kimmi Grant is an American reality TV star, registered nurse, and realtor who appears on the unscripted reality show Love and Marriage: Huntsville on The Oprah Winfrey Network. She was diagnosed with stage two triple-negative breast cancer in June 2022 and underwent a 20-week aggressive chemotherapy treatment. After the treatment, a scan showed that she had no cancerous cells left in her breast.

She has been married to Maurice Scott, an American entrepreneur and reality TV star, since 2018. She has three stepchildren, Tatyana, D’Shalya, and Maurice Jr., from Maurice’s previous relationship, and a son named Jaylin from her own previous relationship.

Here’s what we know about her and how she survived breast cancer.

Kimmi Grant Hails From Baltimore, Maryland

Kimberlee “Kimmi” Grant was born on February 14, 1989, in Baltimore, Maryland, as the youngest of two daughters raised by a single parent. She is currently 36 years old.

Although information about her family’s background is not known, her father’s name is Reginald “Reggie” Grant, and he died in December 2022. Her eldest sister’s name is Nicole Grant Holmes.

Kimmi attended Pine Forge Academy, a Seventh-Day Adventist private school. Then, she went to the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

After graduating, Kimmi stayed in Huntsville and worked as a registered nurse. She also managed Spectrum Home Health Agency, a multi-million dollar non-profit healthcare organization, for over 10 years. She is also a real estate agent and has been working with Capstone Realty, a Huntsville-based realty, since 2013.

The Baltimore-born expanded her career by joining the reality TV show Love and Marriage: Huntsville on The Oprah Winfrey Network. The show is unscripted and it follows the lives and businesses of three couples who are working together to help Huntsville, Alabama, grow through their joint real estate venture, the Comeback Group. The show is currently in its 6th season.

Kimmi Grant tied the knot with Maurice J. Scott in 2018. She has a son, Jaylin Grant, from a previous relationship. She also loves and cares for her three stepchildren, Tatyana, D’Shalya, and Maurice Jr., who are from Maurice’s previous relationship.

In June 2022, Kimmi Grant received a breast cancer diagnosis. She has talked openly about her experience with breast cancer and how she recovered after a year of therapy.

On June 14, 2022, while watching the NBA Finals with her husband Maurice, Kimmi found a lump in her right breast and another one beneath her right arm. A mammography she had after visiting the doctor revealed that she had stage 2 triple-negative breast cancer.

When she learned of her diagnosis, Kimmi said she was saddened and crushed, but she was thankful for the support she received from her husband, her son Jaylin, her three stepchildren Tatyana, D’Shalya, and Maurice Jr., as well as her friends and supporters. She claimed that in order to meet the task, she had to mentally and physically prepare herself.

Chemotherapy began, lasting for 20 weeks, and ended on December 5, 2022. After that, a PET scan revealed that she no longer had any malignant cells in her breast. On April 23, 2023, she finished 36 rounds of radiation after undergoing breast-conserving surgery.

Now, she is using her experiences to raise awareness for early detection and encourage women to do self-exams and get regular mammograms. She said she was lucky that she found the lump early and that she had access to good healthcare. She said she hoped her story would motivate others who are going through similar situations.
