Bridgitte Kingsley is a Canadian writer and producer who has gained lots of acclaim through her career exploits on screen and behind the cameras. She started her career as an actress at a young age and she is notable for Dark Rising(2007), Night Cries(2015), and Game Nation(1996). Over the years, she has added other credits to her skills including writing scripts and producing TV shows and movies.
The entertainer is married to Andrew Cymek who doubles as her business partner in the running of their production companies. To show for her work, Kingsley has won awards like Best Female Performance for her role as Summer Vale in Dark Rising. While this may seem like much, here is a close look at her life.
Brigitte Kingsley Background
48-year-old Brigitte Kingsley was born on April 12, 1976, to Diane Kingsley and Dennis Kingsley in Sudbury, Ontario. However, she did not grow up in that neighborhood as her family moved to Whitby, Ontario when she was 10 years old. She grew up alongside an older sister named Natalie Kingsley.
Also known as Brige, she attended a local high school where she showed interest in acting. Following graduation, she enrolled at York University where she majored in theatre and psychology and graduated with honors with a degree in Fine Arts.
She Started her Career at the Age of 14
As mentioned earlier, Brigitte started acting while in High school. While many tend to be involved with many activities at that stage of their lives, it was not just another pastime for Kingsley. This can be proven by the earliest works she took starting from the age of 14. At that point, she started by appearing in TV commercials for Oxy, Foot Locker, McDonalds, Head&Sholders, and Radio Shack.
Notably, she also made it as hostess Suki Diefenbaker on the 4 seasons of Game Nation. In 2006, she appeared in Dark Rising, her first feature film starring alongside Jay ‘Christian’ Reso, a WWE superstar. The feature made quite an impact as shown by the six Canadian Comedy nominations it garnered in different categories. Notably, one of these was for Best Female Performance which was a result of her role translation of Summer Vale, the lead.
The positive acclaim led to the release of two sequels in 2011, Dark Rising2: Sumer Strike Back! and The Savage Tales of Summer Vale. Unlike the previous part, the sequels gained wide publicity as more outlets including Super Channel and MarVista took up the role of its release.
She Co-owns Two Production Companies
After her graduation from the university, Brigitte started Defiant Empire Corporation with Andrew Cymek, also a Canadian movie maker and her future husband. Through their company, they made many movies which include more than 20 feature films including the award-winning short film, Night Cries and Dark Rising. Apparently, they went all out in producing as it won the best screenplay at the 2015 Blood in the Snow Film Festival.
In the years following this, they produced other highly recognized works like Crush which was named Best Narrative Feature, Best of Festival Film, and Audience Choice Music at the 2016 Desert Rocks Film and Music Festival. For many who follow her works as a producer, she has also delved into romantic comedies, Christmas-themed, and sci-fi comedy movies.
Aside from cofounding Defiant Empire Corporation, she was made president of another production company named Black Walk in 2008. As the president, she has overseen the making of many movies some of which were nominated or won some awards. Reportedly, she also added distribution to her cinema experience starting in 2011 when she took up decade distribution. Thankfully, this paid up so well leading to the production of her first telefilm, Two Hands to Mouth.
Despite the remarkable success of her work at Black Walk, the Canadian actress realized that she needed to leave in order to expand her career. This led to the establishment of her own company, Good Soldier Films. Like in previous times, it was another collaborative work with Cymek. The production company is also involved in charity causes.
And Made Her Writing Debut in 2020
The multi-hyphenated entertainer added writing to her credentials when she started writing. According to IMDB, more than 4 of those screenplays have been produced including;
- Christmas by Chance(2020)
- Unperfect Christmas Wish(2021)
- Picture Perfect Romance(2022)
- The Art of Christmas(2022)
- Super Icyclone(Post-production)
She Also Believes in Giving Back to the Society
For a woman who has worked hard to get to the level she is at, Brigitte has also chosen to give back to society. She is involved with different organizations including being on the board of directors of Canadore College TV/Video production and Cinematography program.
She engages in other charity events through Good Soldier. Some of their works are made with soldiers in mind with the aim that it will benefit as well as boost their morale.
Bridget Kingsley’s Marriage with Andrew Cymek
Though we have mentioned that Brigette has founded production companies with Andrew Cymek, another part of their relationship is the romantic part. They got married on August 28, 2005, and have been together ever since.
According to some sources, they first met in 1999 in the course of their career in the industry. Per his LinkedIn profile, Cymek is a creative that is talented in many aspects of movie making including directing, writing as well as teaching it at the Toronto Film School. So far he has written and directed several works like A Deadly View(2018) and Home for Harvest(2019). A close look at his career timelines indicates that he made his directorial and writing debut in Dark Rising in 2007.
Away from this, Andrew and Brigitte are quite an admirable couple if their loved-up social media updates and frequent collaborations are anything to go by.

Is the Canadian Entertainer a Mother?
From what we gathered, she is not a mother. Moreso she prefers to focus on doing what she knows how to do best-be an entertainer in front or behind the cameras. Nonetheless, she has shared adorable pictures of her and her pet dogs which make us infer that she is a fur mother.
Away from this, she enjoys spending memorable times with her better half, Cymek.
