His Mother Drena De Niro is a Model, Actress, and Filmmaker
Leandro De Niro Rodriguez’s mother, Drena De Niro is the adopted child of the iconic Hollywood actor, Robert De Niro. Se became part of his family after he got married to her mother Diahnne Abbott sometime in 1976. Unfortunately, the pair divorced in 1988, after over a decade of being married.
Drena soon developed an interest in the entertainment industry as she was mostly around her father’s film set. Thusly, Drena started off as a model and later became a fashion consultant. Following her interest in both music and fashion, she started working for Giorgio Armani and occupied the position of a musical supervisor which saw her spend more time behind the scene coordinating runway shows.
After a few years, she earned her first role in the film “Girl and Dolls”. Asides from just starring in the movie, she was also given credit for writing and directing the film. Following this, she earned the 2001 Best Directorial Debut Award at the New York Independent Film/Video Festival.
Since then, Leandro’s mother has landed even bigger roles. Some of her acting credit includes “Great Expectations” and “A Star is Born”.

Even though Leandro’s father, Carlos Rodriguez isn’t so famous, he holds his end as an artist, lecturer, sculptor, and arts advocate. He is known for his creation of graffiti-art-related websites, sculptures, and the subway graffiti writer Mare 139.
He came into the spotlight as the one-time boyfriend of Robert De Niro’s first child and daughter, Dreana De Niro.
Since he parted ways with Leandro’s mother, Drena, he has rather maintained a private life, and not so much is known about him.

Leandro was the Only Child of His Parents
As hinted earlier, Leandro is the only son of his parents. His was birthed while the pair were dating in the 2000s. While there are no established records on how the pair met and when they parted ways, we can assert that their relationship was long enough to see the birth of their son, Leandro De Niro Rodriguez who was nicknamed Lion and Leo Rock by his parents.
He was born in the United States on August 10, 2003, and his birth made the Hollywood actor Robert De Niro a grandfather. Just like Robert, Leandro also shared a great interest in the entertainment industry. As an aspiring actor, he landed his first role in 2005 in “The Collection”. Following this, he appeared in the 2018 movie “A Star is Born” where he shared the screen with his mother Drena, and other notable actors.
Unfortunately, the news made waves on July 3, 2023, that the aspiring actor, Leandro De Niro Rodrigueza had passed on at the age of 19. This was only a few weeks before his 20th birthday. The cause of his death has not been disclosed by his fatality.
Leandro’s mother, Drena who paid tribute to her son on an Instagram post called him a “beautiful sweet angel“. She also expressed how hurt his death has left her. Following her post, several messages of condolences flooded the comments to share in her loss.
However, his father Carlos who may still be shocked by the news of his son’s death is yet to share a tribute.
