ABC’s Judge Steve Harvey Show hosted by the comedian and actor, Steve Harvey follows the same legal procedures and rules as a small claims court. However, the host is not a licensed judge and admits to not knowing so much about law. Nonetheless, he presides over the cases in a humorous way to also serve entertainment purposes while solving disputes.
The show premiered sometime in September 2021 and has since received positive reviews from viewers. Even though there have been rumors that the show would be canceled it has not been made official. Here’s what to know.
Is Judge Steve Harvey Fake or Real?
Steve Harvey doesn’t need so much introduction especially if you keep up with his entertainment and comic series. However, to the best of our knowledge, he is not a real judge and has no legal background.
In fact, he revealed that he knows nothing about law as well as terminologies like provision 1, paragraph 2, and the like. Nonetheless, he added that he is more concerned with the story and makes his rulings based on that.
While curiosity has been drawn to the authenticity of the show, it’s interesting to know that one does not technically need to be licensed to run a primetime courtroom reality show. Nonetheless, the authority the show has cannot be compared to similar shows like “Judge Judy” and “The People’s Court” which use real judges for their rulings.
As such, the cases on the Judge Steve Harvey reality court show are not considered legally binding. Rather, they are more like mediations based on the story of the case and the sense of humor and wisdom of the host.
