It turns out that her mother Tanja, a woman who shares German ancestry is a dance instructor and proprietor of a dance outfit called YYC Dance Project. The Canadian-German woman was her daughter’s first dance instructor.
Apparently, the YYC Dance Project which is a dance team partners with the Alberta Ballet School. Per Tanja’s LinkedIn profile, she is the owner and director of the project. However, we found that the project uses the Alberta ballet dance school premises for its training. Through their partnership, students from the dance project who start their training from the age of 3-17 further their ballet training at Alberta Ballet School.
Looking at her daughter’s career, it is not surprising that at the age of 11, Tate McRae started to dance competitively in all styles at her mother’s studios. Since then, Tanja made sure her daughter balanced her education and her dancing skills. The singer and dancer revealed that her mother also helped in the editing and shooting of her breakout song You Broke Me First using her phone.

Todd Rosner McRae, the father of the Feel Like Shit crooner is a lawyer whose specialty is working with oil and gas companies. He was born on October 20, 1970, in Calgary, Alberta.
Details about his education indicate that he attended the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained a degree in Economics in 1993. After this, he enrolled at the same university to further his studies. Unlike the first degree, Todd studied law and graduated juris doctor in 1996.
Shortly after graduating, he started practicing at Ballem MacInnes as a domestic, commercial, and gas attorney. Though he remained with the Canadian law firm for only two years, it set a tone for his career in the industry.
Notably, his work took him to other parts of the world with his family in tow. as you would find, this exposed them to places like the middle east. Per his LinkedIn, he is now the vice president of Pacific Oil and Gas. He started working at the company in 2020.
