Fame is fleeting and when one does not continue to evolve and keep up with the times, their relevance would easily fizzle out. Today, we will be looking at some celebrities who have had their 15 seconds of fame, couldn’t maintain their relevance and so they have gone off the radar and have been forgotten.

1. Kristin Kreuk
This actress made her acting debut in the 2000s on the teen series Edgemont. Her most renowned appearance was on the series Smallville, where she played the character Lana Lang.
Other notable movies and series she was featured in are; Beauty & the Beast, Burden of Truth, and 2001’s Snow White.
Despite being one of the favorites of the early 2000s this Columbian actress went off the radar. She is still in the movie industry but can mostly be found as a cast in smaller productions. Her last known movie appearance was in the 2022 series Reacher where she played the role of Charlene ‘Charlie’ Hubble.
Kristin now prides herself as a producer and works more behind the scenes.
2. Brandon Routh
After playing the role of Superman in 2006, Brandon has left a lot of people wondering where he is and what he is up to. One of his most notable roles is the aforementioned in the movie Superman Returns. Afterward, he appeared in the film, Dylan Dog: Dead of the Night.
Though his 2006 breakout film got him much-needed attention at the time, he was criticized for the role. According to Roger Ebert, Brandon did not have the charisma that the previous Superman actor, Reeve, had.
Routh has remained on the screens but has long exhausted his 15 minutes of fame. Following a string of bad lucks, he turned to playing video games as no major roles were forthcoming.
Eventually, he began to pick up pieces of his career to assemble and in the process, had to return to smaller roles. Some of the other roles he has played are; Tsar Nicholas II in the movie Anastasia: Once Upon a Time and Gideon Jura in the series Magic: The Gathering.
3. Macaulay Culkin
This famous character from the movies Home Alone 1&2 can mostly be remembered for playing Kelvin in the 2-part comedy movies. After the 1990 and 1992 released films, Culkin appeared in some more films through to 1994 before taking a break from acting.
Almost a decade later, the American actor returned to acting and made a cameo in the Will & Grace series as well as in the film Party Monster. After this, Macaulay went away from acting again and shifted focus to a comedy rock band that he co-founded in 2013.
In 2021, the child actor appeared in the 10th season of American Horror Story: Double Feature.
Despite gaining a lot of nominations for his stellar performances in movies and series, Macaulay Culkin’s fame was short-lived and he is now almost forgotten.
4. Jennifer Love Hewitt
She is an American actress and singer who now works behind the scenes as a director and producer. Jennifer was a child actress whose career started in national television commercials. As an actress, she first starred in the Disney series Kids Incorporated.
Some of her most notable roles are as Sarah Reeves Merrin in the teen drama Party of Five. By 2010, Hewitt’s career began to dwindle and in 2012 she was featured in her last known movie, The Client List.
As a singer, her discography spanned just 10 years from 1992 to 2002. As a director and producer, Jennifer’s projects are last dated 2012 and 2013.
5. Jesse McCartney
The character JR Chandler from All My Children is Jesse’s most notable role as an actor. He became famous in the late 90s and has been featured in both series and movies but this lasted only briefly.
McCartney branched out into music by being part of Dream Street, an American boy band. Soon after, he left the band and became a solo artist.
Trying out other forms of entertainment, McCartney also did voicing and is the voice of Theodore in Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Over the years, Jess has contributed to the entertainment industry through small roles, voicing, and his musical career.
He has cameos in TV shows as himself but his last known acting stint was a small role in 2016’s Major Crimes where he played the role of Tucker.
6. Ashanti
She was one of the most loved singers of the early 2000s whose absence from the music scene has been felt greatly over the years. Ashanti was the first female artiste to make it to Billboard Hot 100 chart’s top two positions.
She has 6 studio albums in total and the last was released in 2014, 6 years after the release of the one before it. However, it did not gain as much frenzy as her very first works.
Ashanti is majorly a singer but has dabbled in acting a good number of times. She even has a movie credit that dates to 2021. The title of the said movie is Honey Girls and she played the role of Fancy G.
7. Jonathan Taylor Thomas
Another 90s star who has disappeared from the limelight is Jonathan. He was a lot of people’s favorite actor after appearing in Home Improvement as Tim Allen’s son, Randy Taylor.
Jonathan’s career started in the late 1980s but before 2010, his popularity had begun to fizzle out. He has both television and film credits to his name but his last known movie appearance was in 2001. As for series, he starred in 2005’s Veronica Mars as Ben.
Before he completely left the minds of movie fans, Jonathan voiced a couple of viewers’ favorite characters like young Simba in The Lion King and Pinocchio in The Adventures of Pinocchio.

8. Eliza Dushku
She is best known as Faith which is the role she played in the 1998-2003 drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She is also famous for her role in the 2000-released movie Bring it On where she played the role of Missy Pantone.
As a video game voice-over artist, she had only a few active years which spanned from 2003 to 2011. By 2016, Eliza Dushku’s film career had halted and a year after, in 2017, her television stint followed suit.
9. Park Jae-sang (Psy)
In 2012, Park Jae-sang broke into the entertainment scene with his viral ‘Gangnam style’ music and dance. The song and its accompanying dance made him very popular and he soon became a household name.
As of 2022, the song had over 4 billion views on Youtube but this remains the K-Pop artiste’s most prominent success. He had other songs which came after it and Psy rode on his popularity with Gangnam Style but was not so lucky to replicate the fame.
Now, he has retired from making his own music and is focusing on managing his label P-Nation. He is now interested in creating an avenue for other K-pop artists to have successful careers in music.
10. Fred Figglehorn (Lucas Cruikshank)
For people who started YouTube from its birth, you would be familiar with the name ‘Fred’. However, for newbies, you would ask who is he and why he made this list.
Fred Figglehorn is a character that was created by Lucas. He is one of the first content creators who gained massive popularity on YouTube in its early years.
The character is about a 6-year-old hyperactive boy who was wont to exaggerate stories of his fictional life, family, and ‘abilities’.
This character was viewed by many teens and adults alike and even had YouTube success for over a decade.
However, by 2014, Fred had lost his relevance, was unable to maintain the attention of his audience, and eventually retired. Lucas Cruikshank shifted his attention to video blogs and other types of content.
Fred Figglehorn was, fortunately, able to get a feature-length film and a good number of merchandise to its name.
