Anna Karina, the first wife of Jean-Luc Godard was born Hanne Karin Blarke Bayer on 22 September 1940 in Frederiksberg, Denmark.
She is a Danish-French actress, director, writer, and singer known for works like The Little Soldier (1963), A Woman Is a Woman (1961), and Victoria (2008).
Anna met Godard while working on the movie, Le Petit Soldat and the duo started a relationship that eventually led to their marriage in 1961. The couple has worked on several movies together including Alphaville, Bande à part, and Pierrot le Fou, during their four-year-long marriage which ended in 1965.
Prior to their divorce, Karina and Godard’s relationship experienced several challenges. Karina had previously said that part of the reason why their marriage ended was that Godard was 10 years older than her and he also used to behave in a very strange manner. According to her, he would go away and come back 3 weeks later. More so, he was never there for her.
After divorcing Godard, Karina remarried three times. She was married to French actors Pierre Fabre from 1968 to 1974 and Daniel Duval from 1978 to 1981 and to American film director Dennis Berry from 1982 until her demise on 14 December 2019. Her agent, Laurent Balandras had said Karina died of cancer but her last husband Dennis Berry said the entertainer died following complications from a muscular rupture.

Anne Wiazemsky, the second of Jean-Luc’s wives was born on 14 May 1947 in Berlin, Allied-occupied Germany.
She was a French actress and novelist who made her career debut at age 18, playing Marie, the lead character in Robert Bresson’s Au Hasard Balthazar (1966).
Just like in the case of Annie, Anna also began a relationship with Godard on set and the pair got married in 1967 while working on Godard’s movie La Chinoise.
However, because Godard became so involved with France’s social uprising, the couple’s marriage grew apart and eventually need in 1979.
She is, however, reckoned for her several works as a novelist and actress. Some of her films include Flesh Color (1978), Grenouilles (1983), and Rendez-vous (1984). Some of her novels on the other hand are Mon beau navire (1989), Marimé (1991), and Un saint home (2017).
Anne Wiazemsky died of breast cancer on 5 October 2017, aged 70.
