Rotraud Schindler, 84, is a German actress who is also known as the estranged spouse of Dieter Hallervorden. She is recognized for her roles in movies and series like Several Times a Day (1969) and Nonstop Nonsense (1975-1980).
However, despite her thriving entertainment career, the talented actress disappeared from the public eye in 2006, only to resurface in 2022.
Who is Rotraud Schindler?
Rotraud Schindler was born on August 29, 1940, in Berlin. Not much is known about her early childhood. However it is known that she left high school at the age of 15. She later moved on to Max Reinhardt School in Berlin and it was there she started honing her entertainment skills.
Dieter Hallervorden Became Her Husband After their Meeting at Die Wühlmäuse
Rotraud happens to be the co-founder of the cabaret Die Wühlmäuse and it was there she met the German comedian, actor, and singer, Dieter Hallervorden. The two fell in love and began a relationship that would lead to marriage.
The exact day they got married is not available. However, they are known to have two children together. Their first child is Dieter Jr. and he was born in 1963 while their second child is Nathalie, born in 1966.
Unfortunately, Rotraud and Dieter’s relationship grew sour, leading to their divorce in the mid-1980s.
Meanwhile, Schindler became known primarily as her husband’s sketch partner in the comedy series Nonstop Nonsense (1975–1980). She also played alongside Dieter Hallervorden in Didi (1989).
Her Kids are also actors
Rotraud’s kids, Dieter Jr. and Natalie Hallevorden are also into acting. Right from childhood, the children made appearances in some episodes with their parents in some TV series.
Dieter Jr. appeared in films such as The Wedding Trip (1969), Several Times Daily (1969), and Die Drei Klumberger (1977).
More so, Natalie is also known to have played the role of Trixie in Didi – The Subtenant at the age of 19.
Moreover, Natalie attended a three-year acting course in New York and at the same time studied Psychology and Theology. When she returned to Germany, she became a therapist for war refugees.
She eventually got married, and currently lives in London and works there as a Psychotherapist.

Schlinder made her career debut in the 60s starring in works like Kleine Störung (1963) and Several Times Daily (1969). However, after about 4 decades of working on several movies and TV series, she walked away from the spotlight. Her last notable screen appearance was in (2006) after featuring in the TV series, Pro7 Fairy Tale Hour.
Nonetheless, the actress was spotted at the premiere of the play Monsieur Claude und seine Töchter Teil 2 at Schlosspark Theater on May 7, 2022, in Berlin, Germany. Furthermore, after being in the dark for a couple of years, the social media space has brought the actress and comedian back to the limelight as some of her old comic videos started trending in 2022 on TikTok.
Prior to her absence from the entertainment scene, Rotraud Schlinder was mostly known for starring in the comedy series Nonstop Nonsense (1975-1980) where she played the role of her husband’s Sketch partner.

Her Ex-Husband has moved on with other partners
After his divorce from Rotraud, Dieter got married to Elena Blume in 1991 and the pair had a son named Johannes Hallevorden together. However, they went their separate ways after 25 years together. Dieter didn’t disclose the reasons for the divorce but rather said he and Elena would remain friends.
In 2016, the actor announced that he was going to marry Christine Zander who happens to be his longtime girlfriend and a former stuntwoman at the Schlosspark theatre.
Unlike his estranged wife Rotraud Schlinder, Dieter has been actively performing and taking roles in including The Masked Singer (2020)
