The singer was born on the 6th of September 1987 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leone, Mexico, and is the 4th son of the late Mexican architect and musician Don Miguel Luna who is also known as El Gorrion of El Palomo y El Gorrion. Edwin’s career started at the tender age of 8 as influenced and mentored by his late father. Although he studied accounting in high school, Edwin ended up as a musician.
He Nearly Abandoned Singing in His Teenage Years
Shortly after the music star was introduced to the stage by his father, he lost interest in the art for a while. Even though he wanted to ultimately abandon singing, his father will not take no for an answer. Sources say Edwin was always either cajoled or coerced to perform at parties and other events.
After much persuasion, Edwin Luna had his hands back on singing again and by the time he turned 15, he was already working with groups like Cadereyta’s Don Arsenio Jimenez, Banda Sinaloa, Virgilio Canales y Liberacion, and Piricuaco.
Luna Formed the First Version of His Music Band in 2010
In the year 2010, the Mexican singer formed the first version of his group called Banda la Escandalosa. This came after he received an invite by the former members of La Real Banda Chilera to form a new band.
However, by March 2011, half of his band members left the group to form something similar to his. Notwithstanding, Edwin had to source for skilled artists from Sonora, Oaxaca, Jalisco, Guanajuato, and Monterrey and formed a new squad called Banda la Trakalosa de Monterrey.
Having been earlier signed to Rmex music, Luna and his new unit released their first single for Remex titled Después de Ti No Hay Nada. The single became very successful, hitting the Top 20 on several music charts in Mexico.
Moreso, their second single San Lunes peaked at number 1 on northern Mexico’s radio charts and also received airplay throughout the country and also in neighboring southwestern, U.S.
Edwin Luna’s group Banda la Trakalosa notably backed El Pelon del Mikrophone on his smash hit dance number titled La Cumbia Tribalera.
The 2nd Version of His Music Group Became a Huge Success
Having released successful singles with Rmex music, Edwin and his new group Banda la Trakalosa de Monterrey continued to gain popularity. In 2012, the group did a cover of Salvador Aponte’s Doble Vida and released it one month after the composer’s version. The songs became a huge success and topped many charts as well.
Before the end of 2012, the group dropped a compilation album of their singles and included a new single titled ‘Concha del Alma.’ Their subsequent studio debut album released in 2013 was titled De Monterrey a Sinaloa and had a total of 12 songs. They include
Furthermore, Edwin and his group began to embark on several tours across Mexico and the U.S. Their hit single ‘Broche de Oro’ was billed to Edwin Luna y Banda la Trakalosa de Monterrey. It was also immediately followed by their album La Banda Grande de la Sultana del Norte in the year 2014.

In 2015, Edwin released a collaborative remix collection with Tierra Sagrada and Reto de Exitos ReMex. In 2016, another compilation album was released titled Asi Cantaba Mi Padre and it featured the last appearance of El Palomo y El Gorrion.
Luna dropped two more albums in 2017. These include the 10+10 collection and Mi Otro You. He also alongside Banda la Trakalosa de Monterrey released Me Hicisite un Borracho in 2019.

The first woman to be associated with the singer as far as we know is Erika Monclova. Sources say he married her in 2011 and the duo has a son named Miquel Alexander Luna Monclova.
It is also said that while he was on a U.S tour in 2013, he met an artist called Yuli, and their affair produced his second child by the name of Dasha Luna. This resulted in his divorce from Erika.
Alma Cero, Born on the 8th of August 1975 in Mexico City is named Edwin’s 2nd wife. She is a Mexican ballerina, actress, singer, and television hostess better known for the series Maria de Todos Los Angeles.
Alma was involved with Edwin from 2014 to 2017. Sources have it that the estranged couple got married in April 2017 and separated in August 2017.
Luna later met with Kimberly Flores in July 2018 and supposedly married the following year. Kimberly happens to be a model and a reality T.v star popular with the reality T.V show La Casa de Los Famosos and she has a daughter for Edwin Luna. Their daughter’s name is Gianna Luna Flores.
