Alexandra Gibb is a Canadian-American journalist with CBC Vancouver News. She is the daughter of British-American singer and co-founder of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb. She is the first daughter and last child of her parents’ five children.
The Canadian-American has an educational background in political science and journalism and specializes in national defense and security reporting. She was a recipient of the 2018 Canadian Screen Award for Best Local Newscast.

Alexandra Gibb’s Early Background and Career
She was born on 29th December 1991. The 32 year-old was raised alongside her four brothers; Stephen, Ashley, Travis, and Michael by parents Barry Gibb and Linda Grey.
Her father gained global recognition when he and his brothers; Maurice, Robin, and Andy Gibb founded the Bee Gees. Her mother had her share of fame at the age of seventeen when she was crowned Miss Edinburgh.
The journalist attended Skyline High School in Sammamish, Washington, and graduated in 2006. She later proceed to the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, and obtained a first-class bachelor’s degree in political science in 2011.
She furthered her education by gaining a master’s degree at the University of British Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism in 2013. She wrote her master’s thesis on “drone journalism: the technology available, its potential ethical, legal and social implications for journalists, audiences and society.”
Career-wise, she worked with The Thunderbird as a reporter in Vancouver from September 2011 to May 2012. She interned as a news producer with the Seattle Times for three months from May 2012 to July 2012.
For one month, she was an intern reporter with The Globe and Mail in Vancouver. She became CBC News Vancouver Scholar for four months from May 2013 to August 2013. That same year, she became a news producer, until 2017 when she became Show producer at CBC Vancouver News at 6.

1. Her father was once divorced
Gibb’s mother was not the first woman her father married. He was first married to Maureen Bates. He walked down the aisle with her when he was 19 on 22nd August 1996. The marriage only for barely four years, as they divorced in July 1970.
Subsequently, her father met her mother during the recording of BBC’s Top of the POPS in London. Barely two months after his divorce married Gibb’s mother on 1st September 1970.
2. Gibb’s father was friends with Michael Jackson
The father of the Canadian-American TV personality had a friendship with the legendary late king of pop, Michael Jackson. According to reports, the co-founder of the Bee Gees said ‘Wacko Jacko’ does stay in his house whenever he comes to Miami.
He said the pop king would sit in the kitchen and watch the crowd of fans outside his hotel room on TV shouting and hailing. He lived there before his child abuse trial began, although they never talked about the case. What they do is sit, write and get drunk.
