Although women’s wrestling has not been given the much-needed attention and exposure like the men’s, it has reached a certain point that it can no longer be ignored. Some of the best female wrestlers in business have shown great skill and athleticism and have broken the barriers before they bring women’s wrestling to the limelight.

Give it to this tough lady when it comes to consistency in performance, character work, promotion, mannerisms, and even acting. She’s well ahead of the some the top female wrestlers in RAW’s character ladder, no wonder she’s among the 20 best in the world.

Only 5 feet 1 inch tall, she signed to the WWE in May 2013, Bliss was named one of the top 10 female singles wrestlers in the 6th spot by Sports Illustrated in 2016 while she was ranked No. 2 by Pro Wrestling Illustrated on the top 50 female singles wrestlers in the PWI Female 100 list in the same year.

Her constant bitter rivalry with Sasha Banks has contributed to her growing popularity in the business. Her potent weapon is how she has been able to draw legitimate heat in the ring with her performance.

Growing up in a family of wrestlers, she made her debut as a wrestler when she was only 14 in 2000 in the World Championship Wrestling. Since then she has fought in the WWE and NXT Women’s Champion. Flair was named the Woman of the Year in 2016 by the Pro Wrestling Illustrated which also ranked her No. 1 of the top 50 female wrestlers in the PWI Female 50 in the same year.

She has taken over the Mae Young Classic by storm becoming one of its biggest stars ever. Piper joined WWE women’s tournament and dished out a couple of Steller performances with some of the biggest names in the business- Santana Garret, Serena Deeb, and Toni Storm. She’s powerful, agile and her techniques in the right are just good.

She was only 16 when she made her debut in 2009 with the Scottish Wrestling Alliance and by 2015, she had become the first ICW women’s champion. She won the Pro-Wrestling: EVE International Championship once and also an SWA World Championship among others.

17. Mercedes Martinez

When it comes to “meanness” in this business, you have to give it to this chic. She has a way of making sure that she doesn’t only defeat her opponent but inflict pains as well. Her heelwork is lethal.

Of Puerto Rican descent, she began professional wrestling in 2000 and has since then, fought in many promotions including the Shimmer Women Athletes, Ring of Honor, World Xtreme Wrestling, and WWE. She is a WSU Hall of Famer and WXW Hall of Famer. The Pro Wrestling Illustrated named her second on its best 50 female singles wrestlers in 2011.

16. Nikki Cross

She has dominated the NXT women’s division since 2017 becoming one of the division’s biggest stars ever since. One of her most outstanding performance was “Last Woman Standing” match with Asuka.

It was in 2008 that she made her debut when she was 19 at the Scottish Wrestling Alliance. Through the years, she has fought in the Pro-Wrestling: EVE, Scottish Wrestling Entertainment, and Shimmer Women Athletes, as well as the WWE. She won the Pro-Wrestling: EVE Championship three times.

She’s a popular name in the American Indie scene, although she’s yet to feature in RAW or SmackDown. She possesses a set of skills that is almost the same as her husband’s (Johnny Gangbang)- who is seen as the most believable babyface in WWE today.

When it comes to fastness and speed, give to Mayu. She is like a panther with moves and holds that are deadly. She works with great speed and interior and very tricky because she makes her opponent to work so excellent.

In 2018, she was the only non-WWE wrestler to make the PWI Top-10.

10. Io Shirai

She is the number one best female wrestler in the world. Unfortunately, her neck injury in 2017 slowed things down, she’s still incredible, charismatic and without any doubt one of the best.

The Japanese professional wrestler was born Masami Odate in 1990. She started her career as a wrestler in 2007 and has since then grown to become one of the best female wrestlers in the world. In 2018, he was ranked 4th by Pro Wrestling Illustrated on its top 50 female singles wrestlers in the PWI Female 50.

9. Nixon Newell

Newell is one of Britain’s best female wrestlers. At 24, she’s young, tough, resilient, infectious, charismatic and her good personality draws attention to her. Her advanced athleticism and perfect techniques in the ring are far beyond her age.

She first began as a footballer before she called it quits to become a wrestler. She made her debut in 2013 and is already one of the best in the sport mainly for how entertaining she can be.

She is one of the best female wrestlers to ever grace the ring in the WWE. Sasha is among WWE’s four Horsewomen. Her star power, attitude and mannerisms show she’s more of a heel than face wrestler. She’s fantastic and outstanding in the ring.

She is also one of WWE’s Four Horsewomen and one of the strongest female wrestlers in the business. She’s completely flawless in the ring.

Asuka whose real name is Kanako Urai began her career as a wrestler in 2004 in for all female promotion AtoZ. Before then, she first worked as a graphic designer. Although it was only in 2015 that the Japanese professional wrestler signed to WWE, she has set many records there already.

She was named the Female Competitor of the Year in 2016 and 2017 when she was also named the Overall Competitor of the Year at the NXT Year-End Award. She was also ranked the No. 1 of the top 50 female singles wrestlers in the PWI Female 50 in 2017 by Pro Wrestling Illustrated which also named her the woman of the year.
